working abroad

I’m really excited – my company sponsors semi-sabbatical nonprofit projects in developing countries for a tiny segment of us, and I might have just landed myself an opportunity. Things aren’t yet finalized, but it looks like in a few weeks I might find myself living in a developing country, in a completely different kind of consulting role than anything I’ve ever done before.

I’m holding my breath, and turning blue.

under my umbrella

I woke up this morning to the sound of rain. Something about the way the rain fell this morning made it especially comforting. I put on my jacket to go to the downstairs cafe for a cup of coffee and newspaper, and noticed why the rain felt different today. There was no wind, and as a result, the rain was consistent and heavy, its rhythm drowning out the normal morning noises. I went back to grab my umbrella and took a stroll around the empty, peaceful city streets.

Sometimes I love New York for its contradictions.
